Information on Bid Submission for ICOH 2024 CongressDeadline: January 28, 2018
The procedure for bid submission to compete for the venue of future ICOH congresses is indicated in Bye-Law 7, Section 1 that reads:
“Applications for hosting an International Congress should reach the ICOH office at least three months before the first General Assembly of the next International Congress and be signed by at least five members of ICOH in good standing of that country”. Read more
Dr. Leslie Nickels passed awayIt is with great sadness that we announce that Dr. Leslie Nickels, Chair of the ICOH Scientific Committee on History of Prevention of Occupational and Environmental Diseases (2015-2018), passed away on November 27, 2017, with her loving husband and two daughters at her side. Leslie had been fighting a brave battle against cancer for a number of years, but this did not deter her from her passion for, and valuable contributions to, global occupational and environmental health. ICOH Statement presented at WHO Executive Board Special Session on the Draft Thirteenth General Programme of Work (GPW13)ICOH Secretary-General Prof. Sergio Iavicoli presented the ICOH Statement on the Draft Thirteenth General Programme of Work at the WHO Executive Board Special Session on November 22, 2017.
The statement has been endorsed by the International Occupational Hygiene Association (IOHA).

Announcement of the candidates for the elections of ICOH Officers and members of the Board for Triennium 2018-2021The candidates must be eligible under Article 5, section 2 and 8 of the ICOH Constitution. The Officers and the members of the Board shall be elected as set forth in the Bye-Laws for the triennial period separating sessions of the General Assembly. They may be re-elected to the same office for no more than one additional term, with exception of the Secretary-General, who may be elected for more than one additional term. The newly elected Officers take office at the General Assembly convened immediately after the ICOH 2018 Congress. A member of the ICOH can be a candidate for one post only at a time.

A global vision of prevention: High-level Special Event at the Singapore World CongressThere are global trends concerning the future of work, but there are differences among individual countries and sectors. A high-level event was held as a part of the Singapore World Congress, where experts shared their global and national perspectives on Future forms of work, one of the ILO’s Centenary Initiatives. World Health Assembly elects Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus as new WHO Director-GeneralOn 23 May 2017, the Members States of the World Health Organization (WHO) elected Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus as the new Director-General of WHO.
Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus was nominated by the Government of Ethiopia, and will begin his five-year term on 1 July 2017.
ICOH warmly congratulates the new WHO Director General, Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, dedicating him a tweet:

World Day for Safety and Health at Work: 28 April 2017We are proud to celebrate the World Day for Safety and Health at Work with the International Labour Organization (ILO). We believe that the theme of this year “Optimize the Collection and Use of Occupational Safety and Health Data” is relevant all over the world.
The International Commission on Occupational Health, ICOH, is proud to endorse the ILO call for action to improve the capacity of countries, stakeholders and workplaces to collect and utilize reliable occupational safety and health data.
