In this meeting, the delegate from the United States and the delegate from Brazil recommended wording insertions, and the Executive Board passed the EB 128/15 Child Injury Prevention resolution, including all of the insertions regarding young workers and child labor. In particular, the wording additions to EB 128/15 Child Injury Prevention resolution include reference to ILO Conventions C182 (Worst Forms of Child Labor) and C138 (Minimum Age Requirement) in the listing of conventions; plans of action for prevention of child labor, and for legal adolescent employment; and the awareness-raising section adds employers and notes workplace hazards. This resolution will go to the World Health Assembly in May 2011 for passage and it will provide a good foundation for continued WHO/ILO activities on young workers, particularly via the WHO/ILO Joint Technical Committee on Protecting Young Workers, and of course for all countries and the WHO Collaborating Center Network. The ICOH Working Group on Young Workers and Child Labor will offer assistance to WHO and ILO.
