I am a Professor and Head of the Department of Physiology at the
University of Kalyani, specializing in Ergonomics and Occupational
Physiology. My research focuses on occupational health, workplace
ergonomics, respiratory health, musculoskeletal disorders, shift work,
climate-related occupational hazards, and physiological stress among
workers in informal sectors. Over the years, I have conducted extensive
studies among vulnerable worker populations including goldsmiths,
brickfield workers, nurses, police personnel, handloom weavers, bus
drivers, carpenters, and conch shell workers. I have supervised several
Ph.D. and M.Sc. dissertations in occupational physiology and
environmental health and published more than 140 research articles in
reputed national and international journals, including *Thorax* and the
*American Journal of Industrial Medicine*. My work aims to improve
workplace health, safety, and productivity, particularly in unorganized
occupational sectors in India.
