Roberto G. Lucchini, MD, is a physician–scientist specializing in Occupational and Environmental Health. He earned his MD at the University of Brescia (1987) and is board certified in Occupational Medicine (University of Parma, 1991). He served as Professor of Occupational Medicine at the University of Brescia (1992–2012) and later led the Division of Occupational and Environmental Medicine at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai (2012–2020), directing the World Trade Center (WTC) Data Center. Since 2020, he has been Professor of Health Sciences at Florida International University and Director of the NIEHS Training in Environmental Neuroscience (T32), while maintaining affiliation with the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia. His research examines neurotoxic exposures—metals, pesticides, pollutants, and particulate matter—across the life course, integrating epidemiology, testing, neuroimaging, and exposome–multi-omics to identify biomarkers. He also studies outcomes among WTC responders and is expanding work in the Amazon Basin on mercury and co-exposures.
