Women Health and Work


The ICOH Women Health and Work Committee specializes in the study of women's health at work.

Focus and aim of the SC:

• Addressing issues that specifically affect women’s health and wellbeing in developed and developing countries.
• Addressing occupational health and safety issues for women, particularly under certain special working conditions such as pregnancy, migration and hazardous exposures.
• Advancing health promotion for working women.
• Addressing issues concerning gender public policies, laws and regulations, and their application in different countries.
• Encouraging research, raising awareness, and promoting education of specialists
• Sharing information/networking with other groups on gender mainstreaming at work
• Working collaboratively with other ICOH Scientific Committees on relevant issues addressing women’s health.


The committee has significantly influenced the inclusion of gender perspectives in occupational health globally. It has worked closely with organizations such as the International Labour Organization (ILO), the World Health Organization (WHO) and UN Women, generating recommendations and promoting best practices to improve women’s working conditions.
The ICOH Women Health and Work Committee remains a global reference in promoting healthier and more equitable workplaces for women. Its historical impact and future vision are a testament to its commitment to continuously improving working conditions worldwide.
