Shiftwork and Working Time
The ICOH Scientific Committee on Shiftwork and Working Time works to promote research related to working hours, health and safety; and support networks between researchers, policy makers, organizations, and the general public.
Our objectives are to:
- raise awareness and discuss emerging health and safety risks related to nonstandard working hours
- propose solutions to minimize the impact of nonstandard working hours on worker's well-being, health and safety
- act as an advisory resource for national and international organizations
- promote cooperative efforts to address gaps and needs in this area.
Our mission is to facilitate a united effort to better understand the risks associated with nonstandard work hours, and to recommend effective, practical solutions to address those risks to promote a healthy and safe working environment.
Many of the SC activities are conducted in collaboration with the Working Time Society (workingtime.org), to which ICOH members can be affiliated at no additional costs and upon request.
