Working Group on Nanomaterial Workers’ Health

At the ICOH midterm meeting in February 2011, a proposal was supported to develop a Working Group on Nanomaterial Workers’ Health. Members of ICOH who are interested in this topic and in developing a plan of action for the Working Group, ultimately leading the formation of a Scientific Committee, are requested to contact the organizers.
The first task of the Working Group is to identify the unique contribution that ICOH can make in the area of nanomaterial workers’ health and then develop an implementation plan that can be presented to the ICOH Board for consideration by March 2012.
The organizers have suggested two possible objectives for the Working Group:
1) conduct an international review of the extent of compliance with precautionary guidance for protecting nanomaterial workers
2) develop a guidance document for start-up companies that would help them assess threats to nanomaterial workers and consider appropriate controls. Other suggestions are welcome.
