The globalizing work life sets continuously new challenges in both the industrialized and the developing world to International Organizations, National Authorities, Trade Unions, Employers and Occupational Health and Safety Professionals in the protection of the health and safety of Workers. Research, training and education are needed to a growing extent for the development of a knowledge base on the nature of problems and evidence on effective solutions through best practices. Scientific efforts are needed even more for anticipation and assessment of new hazards and risks, which spread more rapidly than before in todays globalizing world.
ICOH wants to contribute to the programmes of ILO, WHO, the Global Trade Unions and Employers Organizations in their efforts towards a decent and safe work life through management of risks at work and protection and promotion of the health of workers. ICOH will meet this commitment by providing scientific support, information, expert training and developing good practices and coverage of occupational health services for all.
Good occupational health and safety and good work ability enable workers and their families in both industrialized and developing countries to live a socially and economically productive and decent life.
By developing the health, safety and work ability of workers, ICOH wants to contribute to the elimination of poverty and to promote health and well-being of all working people and their families in the world.
By promoting professional ethics of all experts and other actors in work life, ICOH wants to contribute to the effort of guaranteeing basic human rights and justice to all working people and to enhance professional independence of occupational health and safety experts.
