Announcement – Bids for hosting the ICOH 2033 Congress
We inform our members that the following six proposals were received for hosting the ICOH 2033 Congress:
- Canada (Calgary)
- Colombia (Bogotŕ)
- Indonesia (Bali)
- Malaysia (Kuala Lumpur)
- Saudi Arabia (Riyadh)
- United Arab Emirates (Abu Dhabi)
The candidate countries are listed above in alphabetical order.
In compliance with the ICOH rules and practices, an assessment process of the proposals is now ongoing to check whether each proposal fulfils the basic mandatory requirements established by ICOH Bye-Law 7.
The assessment process will be completed with the final verdict by the ICOH Board, expected by mid-December 2026. Based on the evaluation of all documents submitted and on the reports of the site visits conducted by the Officers, the Board will decide on the admission of each candidate ICOH 2033 Bid to the voting procedure for the determination of the venue of the ICOH Congress, in accordance with ICOH Bye-Law 7.
The list of proposals admitted to the voting procedure will be published in the ICOH website after the ICOH Board’s decision.
The bidders admitted to the voting will have promotional material published in the ICOH website and will be allowed to make a presentation at the ICOH 2027 Congress during the ICOH Board meeting and the General Assembly.
