ICOH Lifetime Achievement Award to Dr. Kazutaga Kogi

On February 6, 2022, during the Opening Ceremony of the ICOH 2022 global digital Congress, Dr. Kazutaka Kogi was honoured with the ICOH Lifetime Achievement Award in recognition of his lifetime commitment and support within the ICOH community.

Dr. Kazutaka Kogi, ICOH member since the 1960s, served as Chair of the Scientific Committee on Shiftwork and Working Time since 1989 through the 1990s, as ICOH Board member since 2000, and as ICOH Vice-President during 2006-2009. He was President of ICOH from 2009 to 2015. During his presidency, he emphasized as ICOH priorities (1) advancing proactive risk assessment and control at work, (2) extending occupational health services to all workers and (3) developing action-oriented ICOH toolkits. He worked with the other ICOH Officers, Board members and Scientific Committee officials as well as many colleagues for reinforcing cooperation towards these priorities, including the spread use of action-oriented toolkits in industrially developing countries for supporting Basic Occupational Health Services in underserved sectors and worker-employer cooperation for concrete workplace improvement actions. He also worked with the Board for reviewing the International Code of Ethics for Occupational Health Professionals which was revised in 2012.
