Prof. Pier Alberto Bertazzi passed away

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing away of Professor Pier Alberto Bertazzi.

Prof. Bertazzi graduated in Medicine in 1971 at the Milan University, Italy. He completed his training at the UNC School of Public Health in Chapel Hill, NC and at the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health, Cincinnati, OH. His main field of research and teaching has been the use of epidemiology methods for the study, recognition and prevention of work- and environment-related diseases. He was Professor at the University of Milan. He served as Director of the Clinica del Lavoro “L. Devoto”, Milan, in the years 2001-2007 and 2010-2015. He was the Director of the scientific journal “La Medicina del Lavoro”.

His contribution to ICOH organization was valuable and long-lasting as he was ICOH Board Member in 2000-2003, Scientific Chairman of ICOH 2006 Congress and he was nominated ICOH Honorary member, on the occasion of the ICOH 2009 Congress, for his contribution in the promotion of occupational health.
