Why should you vote for Medellín?

Today, Medellín is recognized internationally as an example of social and urban transformation, creating a great balance between innovation, education, leadership, social inclusion, sustainable mobility, and civic culture.

The following reasons highlight why we stand strongly together, to organize a high-quality agenda to host the ICOH2030 Congress:
  • The Colombian Society of Occupational Medicine is the oldest occupational health society in Latin America, with 75 years of existence, seasoned experience and medical expertise.
  • Recently, Medellín was recognized as the third-best city in the world to travel to by ‘Time Out’ magazine, which highlights the city’s global appeal; additionally, Medellín was named the most innovative city in the world in the ‘Wall Street Journal’.
  • Colombia has one of the friendliest immigration policies worldwide.
  • We have the support of the Colombian authorities: Ministry of Health, Ministry of Labor and 17 International Societies on Occupational Health, 12 of the most important Universities and representatives of the pharmaceutical industry.
  • Since the last time that an international ICOH Congress was held in Latin America was in 2012 (in Cancún, Mexico), we strongly believe this Region is in a very favorable position to host the ICOH2030 Congress.
  • There are more than 1,000 potential delegates from Colombia, and close to 3,000 from the 23 Latin American countries who will participate in the Congress. The Bidding Committee from Colombia has received very strong support from the other countries in the Region, it is a Latin American regional commitment to host the Congress, and grow the ICOH footprint in our part of the globe.
  • Medellín is a world-class destination with a strategic and convenient location for ICOH members from all over the globe. The International Airport provides easy access from many countries around the world.
  • The Plaza Mayor Convention Center is a multifunctional and modern congress venue with extensive experience in hosting international events. Its strategic location offers more than 15,000 hotel rooms and a wide selection of rates for 2030, to suit all budgets.
