Dr Harish C. Phuleria is an environmental exposure scientist with ~18 years of experience in measuring and modeling toxic organic and heavy metals constituents in different media including airborne particulate matter, road dust, water, sludge and in assessing their human health impacts. His research group focuses on understanding the emissions from vehicular/ biomass emissions sources, monitoring and modelling the long-term air pollution exposures, quantifying toxic air pollution chemicals in human tissues and examining the association of air pollution exposures with health effects in children and adults. One of the current focuses of his research group is to quantify occupational exposure and health assessment, e.g. in coal mines, quarries, taxi drivers, road-side vendors. Dr. Phuleria's specific interest lies in characterizing new exposures e.g. to ultrafine particles, to brown and black carbon and to chemical constituents in aerosols of different source origin, in particular to traffic exhaust in urban areas.
