David P. King MD, MCFP, CAME, FACOEM has broad
experience in the disciplines of family practice and
occupational medicine. Clinical occupational medicine
experience has included the health care, transportation
(aviation, marine and trucking), hard rock mining (gold,
diamond, lead and zinc) industry sectors along with pre-
placement medicals, regulatory periodic surveillance, return
to work/fitness for duty assessments and
disability/impairment assessments. Administrative
experience has included Chief Medical Officer positions
within the workers’ safety and compensation systems in
Canada’s remote arctic northern territories (WSCC NT and
NU) and also in the province of Nova Scotia (WCB NS). Dr.
King presently chairs the medical appeal boards for the long
term disability plans for Air Canada, the NS Association of
Health Organizations and the NS Public Service and teaches
in the Foundation in Occupational Medicine course for family
physicians at Dalhousie University. Interests include history
of occupational medicine and psycho-social factors and work.
