Dr. Marilyn Fingerhut retired in 2005 from the National Institute for
Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), where she worked for
25 years as an epidemiologist, manager, and Chief of Staff. She
worked at the World Health Organization in Geneva,
and continued as a consultant for NIOSH after retirement. Early in her
career she was Associate Professor of Biology at St. Peter’s
College, Jersey City, N.J. and Instructor in Biology at the College
of St. Elizabeth, Morristown, N.J. She served as ICOH Vice President for Scientific
Committees 2006-2009 and 2015-2018. Marilyn holds a Ph.D. in Cell Biology and a
Master's Degree in Occupational Health. She is the author of more than 60 peer-reviewed
papers. The areas of interest in her research and global activities are global burden of
disease, dioxin, carcinogens, simple guidance for control of workplace risks, and issues of
women workers.
