Prof. de la Hoz is a trained and board-certified occupational pulmonologist and internist, in academic practice at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, in New York City. His federally funded research (since 2012) focuses on the WTC-related lower airway diseases (clinicaltrials.gov NCT03295279), and his teaching on continued medical education.
He is a former chair (2015-2022) and secretary (2012-2015 )of the ICOH Scientific Committee on Respiratory Disorders, chair (2020-2023) and former secretary (2017-2020) of the European Respiratory Society Occupational and Environmental Health Group. He is a Fellow of the American Thoracic Society, and the American Colleges of Physicians, and of Chest Physicians.
