Els Clays (°16-08-1976) obtained a MSc degree in
criminology (1998) and a MSc degree in sociology (2001)
at Ghent University, Belgium. In 2007 she obtained a
PhD degree in Medical Sciences at the same institution.
The subject of her PhD dissertation was “Psychosocial
job stress in relation to health”. Her current position
is Associate professor at Ghent University, Faculty of
Medicine and Health Sciences, Department of Public
Health and Primary Care. Her general research expertise is situated in
the fields of epidemiology and health sociology. More
in particular, within the Epidemiology and Preventive
Medicine Unit of the Department of Public Health and Primary Care at
Ghent University, she is mainly involved in research
projects dealing with the epidemiology and prevention
of cardiovascular disease, as well as the epidemiology
of occupational psychosocial risk factors in relation
to health and well-being.
