Structure of ICOH
In Dublin new Bye-Laws are approved. Some major organizational issues are introduced; four categories of members: full members; Honorary; Emeritus; Retired are individual members and Benefactors and Affiliated members are collective members. The Board now consists of a number of people defined with a 1 to 50 ratio as to full members at December 31st of the previous year when according to Officers (that is Board members with executive charges), this election procedure does not provide a satisfactory geographic or disciplinary representativeness, 2 further members can be appointed by the President.
Also connections between Board and Committees are made closer. Committee chairs shall contact the Vice-president in charge to plan work and revisions. Scientific Commettees can receive up to 2/3 of the fees paid by benefactor members to the SC and can be invited by agreement to pay to ICOH a portion of the incomes they derive from their activity. Besides, the Officers are ex-officio members of all Committees.
Also congresses will be scientifically organized in close collaboration between Bureau and Scientific Committees and will involve summaries, conferences, free communications, poster presentation and any other form of scientific communication.
Finally, during triennial Congresses more sessions of Assembly will be scheduled to allow meeting of old and new members, election of Board and Officers, fixing of fees, venue of the next congress to be held six years after. The agenda shall include reports by President, Secretary and Committee chairs.
