Toxicology of Metals

Focus of SCTM: This Scientific Committee focuses on the toxicological aspects of occupational and environmental exposure to metals, the health effects of prolonged exposure to low doses, absorption from multiple routes, and gene-environment interaction. Aim of the SC is to stimulate research on novel biomarkers of exposure, effect and susceptibility.

Publications: A relevant recent delivery of SCTM has been the coordination of a number of expert on metal toxicology, including members of this Scientific Committee, in the preparation of the new edition of the Handbook on the Toxicology of Metals. Planned events: Roberto Lucchini and Miki Aschner are planning an Internal Conference on Manganese toxicity in collaboration with Joan Cranmer, Editor-in-Chief, NeuroToxicology, Department of Pediatrics, University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. The event is planned as a second large meeting after the first meeting that was held in Little Rock, USA in 1997. The venue of the new edition is the Mount Sinai School of Medicine, New York, USA. The organization of the meeting is scheduled for September 25-28, 2016 at the Icahn School of Medicine, Mount Sinai, New York, USA. The conference will be organized by the SCTM and SCNP, in collaboration with the Journal Neurotoxicology, and other international organizations.
