1938 - Frankfurt

26-30/09/1938

8th International Congress of the Commission Internationale Permanente pour la Médicine du Travail

The 8th Congress is held in Frankfurt in an extremely tense political climate reflecting the crisis that will be solved, just during the Congress, by the Munich agreements.
Speakers come mainly from the German and Italian areas and there are very few Anglo-Saxon and French speakers.
D. Glibert, the newly elected President of the International Permanent Committee for study of Occupational Health does not personally attend the Congress but sends a written text recalling with enthusiasm the activity so far developed by Devoto and Carozzi, and confirms that the headquarters of the Permanent Commission remains in Milan, where the “Clinica del Lavoro” had been founded.
In conclusion the Congress states that the next Congress meeting would be held in Rome in 1942 (at the same date a World Exhibition was scheduled there), but of course the war blocked the Congress.
